About MereBaad

MereBaad is a free guide for the weeks after someone has died. It shows what to look for, then the forms, the documents and the steps each institution asks for, in plain words and in one plan.

What we ask for, and what we keep

Reading the guide asks for nothing: no names, no account numbers, no sign-up. What you answer stays in your browser. It is not saved on our side and not sent anywhere.

This first public release does not accept documents, account numbers or requests for paid help. If that changes, we will explain exactly what is collected, why it is needed and how long it is kept before asking you to send anything.

Where the guidance comes from

Each guide is built from the official pages and documents of the institution and of the regulator that sets its rules, such as the Reserve Bank of India for banks, SEBI for shares and mutual funds, PFRDA for the National Pension System and EPFO for the provident fund. Every guide lists the official pages it was built from, and links to the forms themselves, so you can check anything we say.

Where those pages say nothing, or disagree with each other, the guide says so instead of guessing. Where a case needs a person's judgement, it tells you to ask the institution.

How a guide is prepared

MereBaad starts with the institution's forms and pages, then checks the relevant regulator's material. We separate different products and claimant routes, keep conditional documents conditional, and record the source behind each important step. Software may help organise this research, but it does not turn a draft into reviewed guidance.

Institution procedures can change. Use the source links on a guide to check the current form and checklist before you submit anything. We do not add a date, threshold or document just because it is common at another institution.

What has not been reviewed yet

Each guide says whether a person has checked it against the official source. A guide marked “Draft guidance” has not been checked yet. Please confirm the details with the institution before you act on a draft, and do not rely on it alone.

Independent, and not legal advice

MereBaad is independent. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any bank, insurer or other institution it names; their names and logos belong to their owners and are used only to identify them. The guides are general information. If there is a dispute, a will or a succession question, speak to a lawyer.

Not sure what they had?

There is no single list of what a person owned. Our guides to finding what they left behind point to the official places to look and say what each one needs.
